About the German Design Award
The German Design Award is one of the world’s most prestigious design competitions. It was established in 1953 by a resolution of the German Bundestag and is organized by the German Design Council. A distinctive feature of this award is its nomination process: only projects that have already demonstrated excellence in other international awards and are recommended by the Council are eligible for consideration. The award is presented in three main disciplines: Architecture, Product Design, and Communications Design.

Design Approach Focused on User Experience
Since 2021, JCB and FOURDIGIT have collaborated to enhance the MyJCB App—from service design and UI/UX development to establishing a framework for continuous improvement.
For the app’s major renewal, the teams began by gaining a deep understanding of user behaviors and challenges. Through large-scale surveys of tens of thousands of users and in-depth interviews with over 50 participants, they thoroughly analyzed customer needs across all service channels. These insights led to a redefinition of the app’s role within the broader customer experience, aiming to create a seamless, cross-channel journey.
Following the renewal, the partnership continues to refine the app based on app store reviews, user interviews, and behavioral data analysis, striving to provide an experience that is accessible to all users, regardless of their financial literacy. By listening closely to the voice of the customer, JCB remains committed to delivering safer and more convenient card services through this collaborative process.

About MyJCB App
“MyJCB” is an exclusive service for JCB cardmembers that offers features such as viewing transaction history, checking point balances, and receiving security alerts.
Launched in 2016, the MyJCB App for smartphones underwent a significant renewal in November 2023, guided by the concept of “card and app integration.” The renewal introduced improved visibility and accessibility, along with enhanced security features that reflect JCB’s core value of customer safety and security.

The app allows users to sort transaction details by amount or date and includes a keyword search function for ease of use. Security features include “Card Usage Notifications” and “Security Status Recommendations,” which suggest optimal security settings for users. To deliver a personalized experience, the app also offers “Theme Customization,” allowing users to choose from four different visual themes. An exclusive “Digital Concierge” service is available for The Class and Platinum cardmembers.
Looking ahead, JCB will continue to expand the app’s functionality to meet the diverse needs of its user base. A new feature allowing users to categorize and track spending with color tags is scheduled for release in September 2025, with a passkey login function also planned for introduction.
