FOURDIGIT Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Assumption University of Thailand: Offering a Practical Service Design Education Program

FOURDIGIT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Assumption University, a private university in Thailand, on September 30, 2025. A signing ceremony was also held on the same day.

Through this MOU, we aim to create opportunities for students to integrate academic learning with hands-on experience, enhancing their skills while strengthening collaboration between academia and the private sector. Under this agreement, we will offer a practical service design education program as part of the university’s curriculum.

The signing ceremony included a speech from the Dean sharing the university’s vision, followed by a presentation from FOURDIGIT about the collaboration framework and future outlook. Approximately 40 faculty members and guests attended the event.

Expanding Design Education in Thailand

Based on our experience and achievements in service design across Japan and Asia, we are working to foster professionals who can create value through design.

As part of this initiative, we have developed short-term, workshop-based programs in Thailand to cultivate practical service design skills, which have been offered as educational courses since December 2024.

The programs have been implemented at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi and Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology, with a total of 77 students participating so far. Some universities have begun granting academic credit for the program.

The new agreement with Assumption University continues these efforts, with the first program scheduled for December 2025. We plan to expand to additional universities in Thailand and offer the program as corporate training in the future.

Background of FOURDIGIT’s Educational Activities in Bangkok

In Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries, the digital economy is growing rapidly, yet there remains a shortage of professionals with practical design experience—an issue also seen in education.

While design increasingly requires integration across business and technology, opportunities to gain applied, hands-on skills are limited. As a result, companies often face challenges in hiring capable designers and bear high costs for post-recruitment training.

To address these challenges and promote the role of design as a driver of industrial innovation, we began partnering with Thai universities to apply our accumulated expertise in human-centered design and service innovation to education and training.

We provide services in service design, branding, customer experience design, and continuous improvement across Japan and Southeast Asia, as well as corporate training programs. In Okinawa, we also run projects that combine regional employment initiatives with digital design education.

By leveraging these experiences, we aim to contribute to organizational growth and help reduce corporate training costs through the development of capable design professionals in Thailand.
