Expanding Service Design School to Global Enterprises: Supporting Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand)'s After-Sales Service Project

FOURDIGIT has expanded its Service Design School initiative—previously conducted for universities and educational institutions—into a practical program tailored for enterprises and real-world business environments.

As part of this initiative, on October 7, 2026, we conducted a training lecture on Service Design Thinking for project members at Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (MMTh). This marks FOURDIGIT's first case of providing Service Design training for an enterprise overseas.

Background

With the rapid growth of Southeast Asia's digital economy, there is an increasing demand for digital talent capable of conceiving services across business, technology, and design. At the same time, opportunities to practically learn Service Design during educational stages remain limited.

To give back the insights cultivated through hands-on practice to talent development, FOURDIGIT has been promoting partnerships with universities and educational institutions across Southeast Asia since 2024. In September 2026, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Chulalongkorn University brought the total number of partner institutions to ten, steadily building our track record of educational support.

Meanwhile, MMTh's after-sales service department was pursuing initiatives to further elevate service quality and Customer Experience (CX). Through this process, they took note of FOURDIGIT's Service Design lectures at universities in Thailand. Following an observation of an actual university workshop, MMTh decided to implement the training for its project members and dealership partners.

On the day of the session, 32 participants attended in total—including 22 participants and 10 observers from MMTh—engaging in active learning and vibrant discussion.

Overview of the Training Program

The training combined lectures covering fundamental Service Design concepts spanning design, business, and technology, alongside the knowledge needed to drive customer experience design projects, accompanied by workshop activities where participants exchanged ideas.

Participant Feedback (Excerpts from Survey)

Post-training survey responses featured positive feedback regarding practical application in day-to-day operations:

  • "In improving our after-sales service processes, I want to incorporate the input of all stakeholders to design customer-centric, intuitive services."
  • "When driving projects forward, I want to use this as a guideline to align members across multiple departments with a consistent shared vision on the same theme."
  • "Gaining a systematic understanding of the structure and elements of Service Design makes me want to apply this to user research before project kickoff, as well as to UI/UX design."
  • "I want to share the customer-centric mindset learned today with our dealers, ensuring outstanding service delivery across our entire store network."

Comment from Manabu Sato, After Sales Unit, Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

"Through this discussion, our understanding of Service Design deepened, allowing us to clarify the purpose and role of our upcoming workshop focused on examining customer experience in after-sales service. We also gained a clear grasp of the overall Service Design process and key considerations from the perspectives of both the customer and the provider. I am grateful for this learning opportunity and look forward to building on this to achieve even more fruitful outcomes from the workshop."

Future Outlook

Driven by the rapid advancement and proliferation of digital and AI technologies across markets, the need for Service Design within organizations and services is growing more than ever. Building on the educational know-how cultivated with universities and government institutions, and starting with this inaugural corporate training, FOURDIGIT will further expand its Service Design training and implementation support services for enterprises in Thailand.
